Sheriff: Hazing By Deputies at Party Investigated

Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar has placed seven deputies on suspension after they were involved in a 'hazing' incident over the weekend, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

Salazar told an afternoon news conference that the seven 'will turn in their uniforms' and 'are not welcome around here' until the investigation in over.

Salazar said Sheriff's office equipment, including handcuffs and a taser were used.. He says several deputies apparently 'hazed' another deputy at a party at the home of one of the deputies.

"It is not something I expect from my officers, and it is not something the Bexar County taxpayers expect," Salazar said.

All seven deputies are members of the jail SWAT team and Salazar says they apparently felt 'the rules don't apply to them.'

Salazar says the young child of one of the officers was seen in a video of the incident that surfaced on social media, and felony child endangerment charges are a possibility.

"I'm targeting misconduct, and it won't be allowed here," he said.
