Firefighter Phipps Out of Intensive Care After Two Months

It was two months ago this morning that San Antonio Firefigther Brad Phipps suffered critical burns in the fire at the Ingram Square complex on the city's northwest side.

Today, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports, Phipps' family reported that after 19 surgeries in the past 61 days, he is out of the Intensive Care Unit at SAMMC and is beginning physical therapy.

The fire also killed Firefighter Scott Deem, the first San Antonio firefighter to die in the line of duty in twenty years.

"The Phipps family would like to extend their most sincere gratitude to the people of San Antonio for their amazing generosity and they ask that we continue to pray for Brads ongoing recovery," Phipps' family said in a statement.
