Cruz Picks Up Republican Challenger in Re-Election Bid

Republican National Committee

First term Texas Sen. Ted Cruz today picked up a challenger in next spring's Republican primary, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

Stefano DeStefano, a Houston energy company attorney, announced today he will mount a Republican challenge to Cruz, calling him one of the 'most ineffective members of Congress.'

DeStefano says there are millions of 'jilted voters,' himself included, who want to support someone who is a negotiator, not a Senator who would shut down the government over Obamacare.

DeStefano says he supported Cruz over David Dewhurst in the 2012 Republican primary, but he now says Cruz represents an 'extreme method of governing,' and he promises a 'reasonable method of leadership.'DeStefano is an attorney for deep water drilling contractor Diamond Offshore.  His bio introduces him as a political novice, but as a 'Free Market Republican.'

His campaign uses the hash tag #tiredofted

.Cruz already has a challenger in the general election, El Paso Democratic Congressman Beto O'Rourke.
