Drizzle Leads to Two Morning 18 Wheeler Wrecks

This morning's light drizzle is blamed for two serious 18 wheeler accidents early today.

The first happened about 12:30AM, when a flatbed truck hauling oil well pipe was traveling down Loop 1604 near Stone Oak on the north side.

The truck skidded on the wet pavement and slammed into a car.  The driver had to be cut out of the wreckage and is in serious conditon.

The wreck forced the closure of 1604 for hours as crews had to remove not just the truck, but all the pipe.

The second weather related wreck happened on the opposite side of the city, about a half hour later.

An 18 wheeler skidded and jacknifed on southbound I-37 near 181 and split open a fuel tank, spilling Diesel fuel all over the highway.  Nobody was hurt in that wreck, but the road had to be closed there as well.
