U.S. Jet Shoots Down Syrian Fighter Jet

The U.S. has shot down a Syrian  fighter jet during an attack on Syrian Democratic Forces.  A statement  from the U.S.-led coalition fighting ISIS says the encounter started  when a town held by Syrian Democratic Forces came under attack by  Pro-Syrian regime fighters Sunday afternoon.  During the fight, a Syrian  jet dropped bombs near the Syrian Democratic Forces so a U.S. F/A-18E  Super Hornet shot it down.  The statement notes that the coalition is  not looking to fight the Syrian regime, its Russian allies or those  fighting on the regime's behalf, but the coalition won't hesitate to  defend its own partners in the region.
