Safes Are Heavy, as One Would-be Burglar Found Out the Hard Way

A would be safe robber apparently missed all those sixties 'Wile E. Coyote' cartoons, where the coyote would always get weighted down by an 'Acme' brand safe.

Police tell News Radio 1200 WOAI that they got a silent alarm at Eddie's Taco House on Thousand Oaks about midnight.  When they arrived, they found a window had been smashed and the safe missing.

They didn't have to look far for the culprit.  They found the may lying in a field next to the restaurant, collapsed from the strain of carrying the heavy safe.

If they needed more evidence, they even found the suspect's car parked across the street from the restaurant.

Police were willing to relieve the 41 year old suspect of his heavy burden.

Officers say he never got the safe open and never stole anything.
