Woman Shot Northwest of Downtown

Police are looking for a 23 year old man in connection with a shooting just northwest of downtown at the noon hour today, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

A woman was shot in the thigh with a 9 mm semi automatic pistol at the corner of San Marcos and Leal Streets, which is just west of the Haven for Hope center for the homeless, about 12 noon.

Police say a jealous ex boyfriend saw his former girlfriend standing in a crowd of people talking to another man.

The ex became enraged and pulled a gun, hoping to shoot the man she was talking to, but instead missed and hit a completely unrelated woman who happened to be standing in the crowd.

The gunman was seen speeding away in a red car.

The woman is being treated for non life threatening wounds.
