Six Flags Fiesta Texas To Expand Virtual Reality Offerings

Six Flags Fiesta Texas in San Antonio continues to push the boundaries of the theme park experience with virtual reality attractions,  in conjunction with its partner Samsung Gear VR Powered by Oculus, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

Starting mid summer, the familair Drop Tower at Six Glags will become the Drop of Doom VR, the country's first ever drop tower, an immersive encounter that will turn the ride into a new attraction.

"It will be like you're encountering giant mutant spiders," the park's Sydne Purvis said.  "You'll be able to fire defensive blats from your headset, so you'll be able to interest.  They call that 'mixed reality'."

She says the exciting thing about Virtual Realty is that familiar rides can be transformed into any sort of experience the Samsung Gear can offer, from a high sped virtual vertical ascent up 100 stories to a 100 story plunge straight down between  towering skyscrapers.

"You can customize the experience, change it up, change the story line, put it on different attractions."Last year, Six Flags premiered Virtual Realtity on the Superman Krypton Coaster, as guests battled Lex Luthor for control of Metropolis.
