Disturbing Allegations in Federal Lawsuit Filed in LaVernia Sex Assault Scandal

A disturbing federal lawsuit reveals more details on the sexual assault and harassment scandal at LaVernia High School which is now being investigated by the Texas Rangers, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

The lawsuit, filed on behalf of a teenager known simply as 'Child Doe,' claims he was attacked by several other members of the LaVernia football team in a locker room before a playoff game in 2015, attacked, and then sodomized with a Gatorade bottle.

"Upon making the school's varsity football team, CHILD DOE was told by a senior on the football team to 'get ready'" the lawsuit claims.  "CHILD DOE had heard from upperclassmen on the team that there was a varsity football 'initiation'."

The lawsuit, which names the school district and several administrators, coaches, and former coaches as defendants, claims that when the boy reported the incident to his teachers, nothing was done, and the harassment, bullying, and sexual assault continued.

"CHILD DOE" was attacked again by two seniors in the locker room after practice.  and they forced CHILD DOE down onto the locker room floor, but this time he was able to run away."

The lawsuit repeats several equally disturbing accusations.

"At all permanent times herein, LaVernia was deliberately indifferent to known acts of harassment to CHILD DOE.  The harassment was so severe, pervasive and objectively offensive that it could be said to deprive Plaintiff of access to educational opportunities provided by the school, for which defendant LaVernia ISD is liable for compensatory monetary damages."

The lawsuit claims there was a 'pervasive rape culture which dominated the school's football program.'

The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages, and also demands that the LaVernia ISD conduct regular classes to teach employees, teachers, and students how to avoid bullying and how to report it.
