Motorcyclist Critically Hurt Trying to Outrun Police

A 26 year old motorcyclist is in extremely condition with life threatening injuries after he slammed into the back of an SUV while trying to outrun officers from the northwest side suburb of Grey Forest overnight, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

Police say the man ran a stop light at Loop 1604 and Bandera Road, and when officers turned on their lights, the guy thought it would be a fantastic idea to try to speed away from them.

At one point the man was driving more than 60 miles an hour up Bandera Road, speeding around cars and careening around curves, when he smashed into the back of an SUV driven by an 85 year old man.

The motorcyclist hit the SUV with so much force that it popped off his helmet, and the man then smashed his head into the pavement.

Doctors were said to be frantically trying to save his life early Tuesday.

The driver of the SUV was not hurt.

All this to avoid a $200 ticket for running a red light.  Police said there were no warrants out for the man, and no other reason why he would want to run from officers.
