Youngest Council Candidate Ever Hopes to Shake Up Leon Valley

At an age when most people only complain about the world, Marianna Sanchez is doing something about it.

The 21 year old UTSA student has filed as a candidate for City Council in this spring's municipal elections in Leon Valley, making her the youngest Council candidate in the suburb's 60 year plus history.

"The citizens of Leon Valley deserve a councilwoman who will not only be responsive to their needs, but who will take on an active role in strengthening bonds within our community," Sanchez said.    "Having grown up in Leon Valley, I'm uniquely qualified to be a strong voice for my constituents at City Hall."

She says she also wants to improve 'communication between the community and City Hall.'  Her platform includes traffic improvements on Bandera Road.

At the youngest age when she can legally drink, Sanchez has already started making a difference in Leon Valley.  She chairs the Leon Valley Police Advisory Board where she has 'advocated for community policing initiatives.'

She has also founded community groups designed to get young people involved in municipal government.
