66 Couples Marry on County Courthouse Steps at 12:01 AM Valentine's Day

It takes more than a little rain to stop love.

News Radio 1200 WOAI reports 66 couples got married on the steps of the Bexar County Courthouse, in the rain, at 12:01 AM this Valentine's Day.

Bexar County Clerk Gerry Rickhoff says mass wedding ceremonies will be condu cted all day long this February 14th, with events set for 10AM, noon, 2PM and 4PM.

The marriage ceremonies themselves are free, but you have to have a license, which will cost you $81.

You're supposed to get your license no more than 72 hours before the wedding, but that can be waived by a judge 'for good cause.'   Active duty members of the U.S. armed forces also don't have to wait 72 hours.

Most of the people we talked with early today, especially the men, say they got married on Valentine's Day because that will make it a lot easier for them to remember their anniversary.
