Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is rejecting a second demand from U.S. House Democrats to hand over documents from a closed state probe into whether certain Texas voters were citizens. The Democrats claimed that the state investigation had jeopardized the right of thousands of naturalized citizens to vote by improperly identifying them as noncitizens. Paxton's office on Tuesday said Congress lacks the constitutional authority to force Texas to release the documents. Paxton gave the Democrats the same answer last month.
