A man in his seventies was shot to death early Saturday after confronting two people who were standing in his front yard, police tell News Radio 1200 WOAI.
It started shortly after 1AM on Highcliff Street, which is near Perrin-Beitel and Austin Highway on the northeast side.
Police day the man heard the two people causing a disturbance in the street. When he opened the door to determine their intentions, one of the suspects pulled a gun and started shooting at the man.
He went inside, grabbed his own weapon, and returned fire. The suspects shot back, hitting the man in the chest.
The two suspects then jumped into a car and sped away.
The victim was rushed to SAMMC, but was dead on arrival.
Police are investigating, but dont know why the two suspects were in front of the mans home, or what their intentions were.
