Airlines Remind Passengers To Be Patient When Traveling

'Tis the season for holiday travel and  airlines are reminding passengers to pack some extra patience as they  prepare for a record number of travelers for the holidays.  According to  the trade group "Airlines for America,"  airlines are expecting  51-million passengers to fly to their Christmas and New Year's  destinations.  That's up more than three-percent from last year.  The  group says that's because airlines are offering 91-thousand more seats  per day on larger planes or additional flights to meet the demand for  the holiday period.  Airlines project the busiest travel day left on the  holiday travel period will be Tuesday, with about  two-point-seven-million passengers traveling daily.

The TSA says they've also worked  to accommodate the peak of passengers with expedited screening, more  agents working checkpoints and teams of bomb-sniffing dogs.  During the  holiday travel period so far, TSA officials say about 98-percent of  passengers waited an average of 20 minutes or less in security lines.
