President Obama on Wednesday (August 20th) angrily condemned the beheading of American journalistJames Foley by Islamic State militants, as the U.S. launched 14 new airstrikes against the extremists that have taken over large areas of land sweeping from Syria into Iraq. In his comments yesterday, Obama strongly denounced the Islamic State -- also called ISIS or ISIL -- calling it a "cancer," and vowed the U.S. would do what it had to in order to protect its citizens.
