Gov. Greg Abbott says the cause of the Smokehouse Creek fire in the Panhandle is now under investigation. The fire started a week ago and is now the largest wildfire in Texas history, having scorched more than a million acres and killed two people. Several other fires are also raging in the area. Officers with the Texas A&M Forest Service are looking into the cause of the fire. Lawyers of landowners suspect the blaze may have been sparked by a downed Xcel Energy power line outside the town of Stinnett.
