Attorney General Ken Paxton is targeting three Republican judges on the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals who are up for reelection next year. Sharon Keller, Barbara Hervey, and Michelle Slaughter voted to strike down Paxton's ability to unilaterally prosecute voter fraud. By an 8-to-1 vote, the court ruled in 2021 that his office needed permission from local county prosecutors to take on voter fraud cases. Challengers to all three judges have filed to run in the GOP primary, and Paxton is reportedly supporting them.
