All Texas Republicans Vote Against Removal Of McCarthy As House Speaker

The removal of U.S. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy on Tuesday comes over the objections of every Texas Republican who was present. All 23 Texas Republicans who were present voted to keep McCarthy, and all 13 Texas Democrats voted to remove him. Eight House Republicans joined all Democrats in the 216-210 vote to remove McCarthy. Two Texas Republicans were absent. McCarthy is the first House Speaker in U-S history to be removed.
