The San Antonio City Council is considering a proposed budget of more than $3.7 billion for fiscal year 2024. The proposed spending plan would add more than 100 police officers for the first time ever, increase spending on Animal Care Services, and fund the cleanup of hundreds of homeless camps. The budget would also feature a slightly lower property tax rate and a long-anticipated increase in city solid waste fees. The city council is expected to pass the final budget on September 14th.
