Parents Of Trans Teenagers Try To Stop Texas Law

A handful of Texas families are suing to stop a law that would ban transgender medical care for minors. They're represented by Lambda Legal, who claims it violates parental rights and discriminates against transgender teens on the basis of sex. The bill states transgender minors would no longer be able to receive puberty-blocking medication, hormone therapies or surgeries. The lawmakers behind the bill say they are doing it to protect children from irreversible medical procedures. Several doctors are also suing, arguing the new law prevents them practicing medicine. These are the same arguments that have blocked similar laws in Florida, Arkansas and Tennessee.
