Retail fireworks sales are officially reopened in Texas ahead of the Independence Day holiday. The sales period started last Saturday and will continue until midnight on July 4th. The sale and use of fireworks are illegal in the city limits of San Antonio, but are allowed in unincorporated areas of Bexar County. It's illegal to set off fireworks within 600 feet of a hospital, veterinary hospital, school or church, and within 100 feet of a gas station. Despite the heat wave, there is no burn ban in place.
