The Gateway International Bridge in Brownsville is experiencing shutdowns this week as large groups of people try to enter the United States from Mexico. The bridge was shut down for about three hours on Monday and for around 30 minutes yesterday. U.S. Customs and Border Protection says drivers were forced to wait up to two hours before they could get across the bridge yesterday. The agency says the groups crossing the bridge were forced to turn back after being unable to present the proper paperwork to allow them to lawfully enter the U.S.
