Another high-ranking member of the Texas Military Department is leaving his post. Adjutant General Tom Suelzer announced yesterday that Major General Charles Aris is retiring from his position as commander of the state National Guard's 36th Infantry Division. Aris will be replaced by Brigadier General Ronald Burkett, who Suelzer called a "perfect choice" for the role. The announcement comes days after Suelzer himself was named the head of the department, which has reportedly faced criticism from guardsmen during Operation Lone Star.
