Hurricane Watch Issued For Part Of Texas Coast

The National Weather Service expects Tropical Storm Nicholas to strengthen before it reaches the Texas coast. Nicholas is forecast to follow the coastline at least through middle of the week, and may become a Category 1 hurricane. Eight to 16 inches of rain is expected over a wide area, with up to 20 inches possible in some locations. Flash flooding could result. As of Sunday night, a Hurricane Watch is in effect from Port Aransas to Freeport. A Tropical Storm Warning extends to High Island, and a Tropical Storm Watch to Sabine Pass.
