City's Emergency Housing Assistance Program Still Helping Families

San Antonio officials are calling the city's Emergency Housing Assistance Program an ongoing success. The program has helped 37,000 local households pay their mortgage, rent, and utility bills during the pandemic. The city initiated the program in April of last year after the pandemic shutdowns led to massive layoffs. Edward Gonzales, assistant director of the Neighborhood and Housing Services Department, says the program received more than $133 million in funding and has nearly $20 million left, with more on the way.
