National Democrats To Spend At Least $1M On Hegar's Race Against Cornyn

A race for a Texas seat in the U.S. Senate is drawing the attention and the funding of the national Democratic Party. The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee announced Tuesday that it plans to support M.J. Hegar's race against GOP incumbent John Cornyn to the tune of at least a million-dollars.

The committee stated that it would spend "seven figures," but didn't name an amount. The money will be spent on polls, TV ads, and other campaign resources.

Cornyn referred to the announcement as a "swamp-driven effort."
