Wineries And Distilleries Seek Exemption From Abbott's Bar Closure

The owners of Texas wineries and distilleries say they should be exempt from Governor Greg Abbott's order to shut down bars during the pandemic. Abbott's order closed all businesses that get 51-percent or more of their revenue from alcohol sales. But owners of wineries and distilleries say they're part of the tourism industry and shouldn't be lumped together with bars. State laws and rural locations are making it hard for them to get by on to-go or curbside sales. Industry representatives say they're asking for exemptions from the shutdown order, but so far no luck.
