Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is asking the U.S. Supreme Court to strike down California's ban on state-paid travel to Texas. Paxton on Monday argued that the ban places an unconstitutional burden on citizens and businesses of Texas. The California Attorney General imposed the sanction in 2017 because of a Texas law that allows faith-based foster care and adoption agencies to refuse adoptions to same-sex couples. California sees the law as discriminatory, but supporters say it protects religious freedom.
