The metro San Antonio unemployment rate in September fell to 3.0% from 3.2% in August, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
Workforce Solutions Alamo says of the nine counties in the metro area, McMullen County has the lowest unemployment rate, at 1.9%, while Atascosa has the highest, at 3.4%.
The local employment rate ramains significantly below the stateside (3.3%) and national (3.8%) unemployment rates, although all are testing new lows, and a lack of available workers continues to be one of the major impediments to the growth of businesses.
But the law unemployment rate bodes well for the upcomign Christmas retail season, will full employment leading to confident shoppers and increasing retail activity.
