Texas Congressman Pushes Impeachment Over Whistleblower Report

Joaquin Castro

Texas Congressman Joaquin Castro wants the House to initiate impeachment proceedings against President Trump, if the White House doesn't release a big whistleblower's report. In an interview, the Texas Democrat argued that it should happen by week's end. Castro said it appears that President Trump pressured Ukraine's president to investigate former VP Joe Biden and his son Hunter. Hunter Biden had some business interests in Ukraine. President Trump denies any wrongdoing.

Trump has said his conversations with foreign leaders are always appropriate. Something about the July call between Trump and the Ukrainian president prompted a whistleblower complaint to the intelligence community's inspector general, or I.G. The Trump administration has been blocking congressional demands to see the I.G. report. Congressman Castro is a member of the House Intelligence Committee. His brother Julian is seeking the Democratic presidential nomination.
