San Antonio Park Police Officers Shoot, Kill, Armed Suspect

Two San Antonio Park Police Officers shot and killed a gun wielding suspect at Commerce and Navarro Streets, in the heart of the downtown tourist district, early today, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

The Park Police is a division of the San Antonio Police Department.Chief William McManus says the Park Police officers, whose jurisdiction includes the Riverwalk, were called out about 1:30AM on a report of a 'disturbance with a gun.'

"The officers approached the man, he started getting more aggressive with him, and they tazed him, but the tazer had no impact," McManus said.

He says the man then fired a shot at the officers.  

They responded by firing two shots at the man, killing him instantly.

McManus says the officers suffered no injuries, and are on routine desk duty pending an investigation.The suspect, in his twenties, has not been identified.
