Man Facing Felony Charges in Deadly Northeast Side Wreck

A 43 year old man is facing charges that could land him in prison for decades following a deadly accident on the city's northeast side, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

Police say Randy Perez was driving near I-35 and Loop 410 when he veered off the road and slammed into a concrete barrier.

Perez wasn't hurt, but his son was rushed to the hospital where he died.

Three other people in the car, including two teenagers and an adult woman, were also hospitalized.

Perez was nor hurt.

Police say an open container of alcohol was in the car, and Perez was determined to be drunk.

He will face one charge of intoxication manslaughter, which is a second degree felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison, and three counts of intoxication assault, each one carrying a penalty of 2 to 10 years in prison, which a judge could order be served consecutively.
