Bexar Deputy Charged with Mistreating Inmate

A Bexar County Sheriff's Deputy was arrested today on charges that he mistreated an inmate at the county jail, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

The deputy, who has been on the job for 14 months, is facing charges of Official Oppression and Assault Bodily Injury.

Sheriff Javier Salazar said the deputy took off his uniform abd challenged the inmate to fight.

The deputy lost, and then he allegedly assaulted the inmate.

The Deputy, identified as Tavian Gloeckler, 23, will be placed on unpaid leave while the charges are investigated and prosecuted.

“In the interest of maintaining public trust,  we moved swiftly and decisively in this case," Salazar said. As I’ve stated before, misconduct in any form will not be tolerated.  We will provide full details as soon as possible."
