Astronaut John Young Dies

John Young

Astronaut John Young has died at age 87.  Young flew to the Moon twice and walked on its surface.  He went to space six times in the  Gemini, Apollo and Space Shuttle Programs.  Young died last night  following complications from pneumonia.  Former President George H.W.  Bush issued a statement today, saying Young was "a good friend and  represented the best in the American spirit."  Young first became an  astronaut in 1962, walking on the Moon in 1972 and flying the Space Shuttle in 1981.
