Two Men Charged With Selling Teenage Females for Sex

Police say the arrest of two men has helped halt a ring that was holding teenaged females against their will and 'selling' them for sex, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

"One victim was able to escape," SAPD SVU Sergeant Michelle Ramos said.  "She ran out the door and took off running. She later called police and told them what had happened, and she stated there was another victim at the hotel."

Ramos said police then responded to the north side hotel and confronted a potentially dangerous situation.

"The officers responded to that location where they were confronted by one of the suspects and the victim was also inside.  That suspect did have a weapon in the room, so the officers quickly detained them."

Ramos says the men had been selling the teens for sex using a smart phone 'app' and the web site 'backpage.com.'

She says more victims and more suspects in this operation is possible.
