Steely Dan Co-Founder, Guitarist Walter Becker Dead At 67

Walter Becker

Walter Becker, a guitarist with and co-founder of the rock and roll band Steely Dan, is dead at the age of 67.  Becker's death today was confirmed on  his official site.  No cause or other details were given.  Becker  partnered with band co-founder Donald Fagen on such Steely Dan hits as "Katy Lied," "Reelin' In the Years," "Deacon Blues" and  "Rikki Don't Lose That Number."  Becker and Fagen, who he met at Bard  College in New York in 1967, were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall  of Fame in 2001.  Fagen wrote in a tribute today that Becker was "smart  as a whip, an excellent guitarist and a great songwriter.  He was  cynical about human nature, including his own, and hysterically funny."
