China is urging restraint when it comes to the volatile situation with North Korea. The White House confirmed early today that President Trump had spoken by phone with Chinese President Xi Jinping. The state-run broadcaster China Central Television said President Xi made clear that all sides should, quote "avoid words and deeds that increase tensions on the Korean Peninsula." A statement from the White House said "President Trump and President Xi agreed North Korea must stop its provocative and escalatory behavior."
President Trump is assuring the governor of Guam that Washington stands with the U.S. territory "one-thousand percent." During a brief, roughly three-minute conversation Trump also told Governor Eddie Calvo that he's noticed that Calvo has become "extremely famous" lately and predicted that tourism there would, quote "go up like tenfold." The Republican governor thanked Trump for his support and said he'd never felt more confident and safe than with him in charge.
