White House Defends Transgender Military Ban

White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders says President Trump's ban on transgender people in the military service was based on what is best for the military and is "not meant to be anything more than that."  Sanders said yesterday that Trump has become concerned that Obama-era transgender policies were eroding military readiness and "unit cohesion."

Meanwhile, Chelsea Manning, the transgender soldier who served seven years in prison for leaking classified information, is blasting Trump's decision.  Manning tweeted yesterday that when the biggest military on Earth cries about a few trans people but funds the F-35 fighter jet, it quote "sounds like cowardice."
