North Side Shooting Blamed on Bungled Carjacking Attempt

A shooting on the north side overnight is believed to have been sparked by a carjacking attempt gone bad, police tell News Radio 1200 WOAI.

Police were called to an apartment complex in the 900 block of Silver Sands, which is near Blanco and West, about 11PM on a report of shots fired.

When they arrived, they found a 33 year old man shot in the leg.He told officers he was walking to his car in the parking lot when two men walked up and jammed a gun in his face, demanding the vehicle.

Something spooked the would be carjackers, because they shot the man once and then jumped into their own car and sped away.

The victim will be okay, the wanna-be carjackers got away with nothing and remain on the loose.
