Man Gets Thirty Years for Killing Woman While Driving Drunk

A 23 year old man who killed a woman while he was driving drunk will be 53 years old before he can have another round.

Tyler Mosley was sentenced to 30 years in prison today for a combination of convictions, including Intoxication Manslaughter, Intoxication Assault, and an affirmative finding of the use of a deadly weapon.

Mosely had just left a bar in Live Oak early in the morning after the Fourth of July in 2015 when he ran a red light, then T-boned a car at a high rate of speed on the I-35 access road near Pat Booker.

The impact was so strong, it hurled the car ten feet into the air, and ripped off the passenger side door.  The passenger, Emily McLaughlin, was killed instantly, and the driver, James Casiano, was critically injured.

Emily was in town to visit her boyfriend James, and she planned to move to San Antonio soon.

In addition to being drunk at the time, Mosley has opioids, Xanax, and an extract of cocaine in his blood system, but he ripped off the wrist band he had been given at the bar, in hopes that the police wouldn't notice.
