A calm night of sleep was cancelled for one west side family when a truck came plowing into their bedroom this morning, 1200 WOAI news reports.

Police say a woman and a child were asleep in the bedroom of their home in     the 5200 block of Hemphill, which is near Culebra and Callaghan, about 12:20 this morning when the incident occurred.

Officers say a man who was driving an SUV at a high rate of speed down Hemphill lost control of his vehicle, jumped the curb, took out a mailbox, and then overcorrected.

He skidded across the street, hit a truck that was parked in the driveway of the Hemphill home, and then pushed the truck through the wall and into the bedroom.

The woman and child were thrown across the room by the force of the collision.  EMS says they'll be okay.

No word on what charges the motorist may face.
