An effort is underway to attract another Big Dance to San Antonio.
Several representatives of the NCAA will be in the city next month, as San Antonio is one of eight cities vying for the Men's Final Four between 2017 and 2020.
The last time San Antonio hosted a Final Four was in 2008. The city missed out on the bids for the event in the 2012-2016 bidding cycle due to concerns that the Alamodome was outdated, especially in the competition with new facilities like AT&T Stadium in Arlington, which hosted the event earlier this year.
A 'River Rally' is set for September 10th to show the NCAA team San Antonio's enthusiasm for hosting the event.
Several new downtown facilities, including the expansion of the Convention Center and the new Grand Hyatt Hotel, have been added to the city's downtown since 2008.
There is talk of San Antonio hosting the Final Four in 2018, as the event will take place just weeks before the city's May 1st 300th birthday celebration.
