A baby has been rescued after he was allegedly kidnapped by his non custodial father, 1200 WOAI news reports.

It started about midnight at #3 Apple Hill, which is on the northwest side off Wurzbach Road.

Police say the man came to the house to let the father visit with the baby, but she tried to leave when she realized that the man was drunk.

Detectives say the man started beating the woman, then grabbed the infant and ran out of the house.

Police ringed the area and called the police helicopter and staged an extensive search for the man and the child.  They finally found them about twenty minutes later in a wooded area.

The baby had suffered cuts and scratches but was otherwise unhurt and has been returned to his mother.  The man is expected to face charges of child endangerment, aggravated kidnapping, and assault family violence.
