Wearing a helmet turned out to be a life saver this morning for a motorcyclist who witnesses say was ‘weaving in and out of traffic’ on Gen. McMullen on the city’s west side, Newsradio 1200 WOAI’s Michael Board reports.
Officers say the motorcyclist was riding recklessly down the road when he ran into a pickup truck just north of the Highway 90 exit.
“It appears the motorcycle crossed into the turn lane and hit the left front quarter of the truck, causing the motorcycle to slide down the road,” an officer said.
He says the cyclist is hospitalized with multiple injuries, but no head injuries, and he can credit that to his helmet.
“It’s hard to say,” he said. “It’s always good to wear a helmet.”
