South Floridians Unprepared For Natural Disasters

South Floridians Unprepared For Natural Disasters
Posted June 11th, 2014 @ 4:00am

South Floridians  may think they know all about hurricanes.

But, that "knowledge" can be a dangerous thing.

An Allstate survey has revealed that 92 percent of Americans have been through a natural disaster.

Yet, a third of those admit they would wing it and take their chances if another severe storm was approaching

Further, while 41 percent say they have discussed a general evacuation plan, only 8 percent actually know what they will do in the event of an evacuation order.

When it comes to having an emergency kit filled with supplies, only half of those surveyed say they have one ready.

Allstate recommends getting an evacuation plan in place and getting an emergency supply kit together.

Further, the company suggests creating a home inventory list.
