Former NBA coach and Miami Heat commentator Jack Ramsay has died.

 

ESPN reporting the 89-year-old had been fighting cancer for the past couple of years.

 

Ramsay coached in the NBA from 1976 to 1986 and won a title with the Portland TrailBlazers in 1977.

 

Affectionately known as "Dr. Jack," --Ramsay was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1992.

 

He worked as the Heat’s TV analyst from 1992 through 2000.
